Jelena Jelača, Painting

Jelena Jelača (1973) from Belgrade, graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade in 1998 where she also finished her Master’s studies in 2000. She has exhibited her work collectively and individually in her home country or abroad since 1994. She is studying the position of an individual with regard to society, re(designing) identity, and gender relations in the culturological context and psychological dimension.

Her dominant motif is portrait with autobiographical details. Reasoning of character and a gift for particularities reflect the artist’s intuitive nature and contribute to ranking the artist’s portraits among the most successful pieces of this kind in the domestic art scene.
